Scion new brand representing compliance, intelligence and human & organisational performance capabilities

New appointments strengthen Scion's leadership team as the company expands its capabilities in the UK and United States.

31 August 2026 | Scion has unveiled a new brand and expanded proposition, bringing together Compliance, Intelligence and Performance to help organisations operating in regulated and high-risk environments navigate complexity, manage risk and scale with confidence and control.

The rebrand reflects the continued evolution of Scion and a deliberate expansion beyond its established outsourced compliance services into two complementary areas: Intelligence and Human & Organisational Performance.

As regulatory requirements, technology, financial crime, geopolitical uncertainty and operational risk become increasingly interconnected, organisations are having to make critical decisions using information and expertise that often sit across multiple functions.

Scion's expanded proposition has been developed in response to that environment.

Rather than treating compliance, intelligence and organisational performance as isolated disciplines, Scion brings together specialist expertise, intelligence and technology to help clients better understand risk, strengthen decision-making and act with confidence.

Compliance. Intelligence. Performance.

The new Scion proposition is built around three core capabilities.

Compliance remains at the heart of the business, providing specialist outsourced compliance support to organisations navigating complex and evolving regulatory environments. Scion's model gives clients access to experienced practitioners and proportionate solutions without necessarily having to build every capability internally.

Intelligence extends that capability beyond regulatory compliance, supporting organisations that require deeper insight to understand risk, investigate complex issues and make informed decisions. Capabilities include investigations, enhanced due diligence, financial crime, asset tracing and recovery, risk intelligence and specialist intelligence-led assignments.

Performance introduces Scion's Human & Organisational Performance capability, focused on understanding how people, leadership, systems, processes and organisational conditions influence outcomes.

The objective is not simply to respond when something goes wrong, but to help organisations better understand the conditions that influence performance and risk before they develop into significant operational, regulatory or financial events.

Responding to increasingly interconnected risk

The decision to expand Scion's proposition reflects a fundamental shift in the challenges facing organisations operating in regulated and high-risk sectors: risk rarely exists in isolation.

A compliance issue can expose weaknesses in systems, culture or organisational processes. An investigation can reveal broader governance or control failures. Performance issues can create regulatory, financial, operational and reputational consequences.

Technology and increasingly sophisticated data analysis also provide organisations with new opportunities to identify patterns, understand risk and support better decision-making.

Scion's approach is therefore designed around the intersection of people, intelligence, technology and specialist expertise. Each capability can be delivered independently while providing clients with access to a broader multidisciplinary team when challenges cross traditional organisational boundaries.

James Eastham, Founder and CEO of Scion, said:

“Scion was built around providing clients with specialist expertise when they needed it, without adding unnecessary complexity. As the business has developed, it has become increasingly clear that the challenges our clients face extend well beyond compliance alone.

Compliance remains fundamental to what we do, but risk, intelligence, technology and organisational performance are increasingly interconnected. Our new brand reflects the business Scion is becoming and gives us a clear platform from which to bring those capabilities together.

Our objective is straightforward: combine exceptional people, specialist intelligence and technology to help our clients understand risk, make better decisions and scale with confidence and control.”

Scion strengthens leadership team in the UK and US

The expansion is supported by the strengthening of Scion's leadership team, including the appointments of Gareth Syms FCIM as Chief Commercial Officer and Mark Ruckstuhl as Chief Operating Officer.

Syms brings more than 20 years' experience spanning financial services, commercial strategy, business development and marketing, with a proven track record in developing and delivering growth strategies across established organisations, SMEs and emerging businesses.

His financial-services career has included senior commercial roles across investment management, private banking and investment services, alongside subsequent experience working with organisations in both the UK and United States.

As Chief Commercial Officer, Syms will lead Scion's commercial strategy, partnerships, proposition development and growth across its Compliance, Intelligence and Performance capabilities.

Based in the United States, Mark Ruckstuhl, Scion's Chief Operating Officer, brings extensive operational and US Government experience to the business.

A retired United States Coast Guard Commander, Ruckstuhl has more than 16 years' experience in US Government contracting and is a subject-matter expert in Human & Organisational Performance.

His experience spans complex government and operational environments, with particular expertise in understanding how people, leadership, systems, processes and organisational conditions interact to influence performance and outcomes.

His US appointment also strengthens Scion's international capability and provides a platform for the continued development of the business in the United States.

Eastham added:

“The expansion of Scion requires people who bring genuine experience rather than simply new service labels. Gareth brings a proven commercial track record and more than two decades of financial-services experience, while Mark brings exceptional operational and US Government experience alongside deep expertise in Human & Organisational Performance. Their appointments significantly strengthen our leadership team and our ability to translate Compliance, Intelligence and Performance into practical solutions for clients in the UK, United States and internationally.”

A new identity for the next stage of Scion

The new visual identity brings Scion's expanded capabilities together under a single brand, with Compliance. Intelligence. Performance. forming the foundations of its positioning.

At the centre of the proposition is a clear purpose:

We combine specialist expertise, intelligence and technology to help organisations navigate complexity, manage risk and scale with confidence and control.

The rebrand marks the next stage of Scion's development: retaining the specialist, flexible approach on which its outsourced compliance business has been built while extending that model into areas where clients increasingly require intelligence, specialist expertise and a deeper understanding of organisational performance.

Compliance. Intelligence. Performance.
